connections to American Express through Moneydance 2010. We are
working on diagnosing the issue. It would be helpful for us to have
log files from users having this issue. If you would be willing,
could you send the contents of your error console to <a href=
"mailto:jessica@moneydance.com">jessica@moneydance.com</a>? Here's
how to get the log in Moneydance 2010:</p>
<p>1) In Moneydance, click on the Help menu and select the Console
Window option. This will open the console messages window.<br>
2) While the Console Window is open, attempt to connect to your
bank. Any error messages should be recorded to the Console.<br>
3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the "Copy to
Clipboard" button at the bottom to copy the text.<br>
4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file
(preferably saved with a .txt extension) and email that file to
<a href=
"mailto:jessica@moneydance.com">jessica@moneydance.com</a>.</p>
<p>The debugging logs that this produces will contain your account
information. To be safe, you should redact any account info in the
debug logs. Just replace it with something like "ACCOUNT NUMBER
HERE" and it should be fine.</p>
<p>Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and I
apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.</p>

computer running snow leopard.<br>
I had no problem with my Citi Card or my bank accounts. I go to
tools, setup online banking and select American Express.<br>
I entered my account number and put in what my online id is.<br>
Is the customer ID the same as my log in ID? I don't see where to
enter my password.<br>
I then get</p>
<p>Moneydance now has most of the information needed to connect to
your financial institution for this account. Click the 'Finish'
button below to complete the process.<br>
and I hit finish.</p>
<p>Then when I go into Online, the option to download American
Express transactions is grayed out.</p>
<p>What have I done wrong? (never had this problem with
Quicken)</p></div>margieploughtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/11309482010-03-02T19:21:55Z2010-03-02T19:21:55ZCredit Card Set Up<div><p>Margie,</p>
<p>It appears we are having widespread issues with direct
connections to American Express through Moneydance 2010. We are
working on diagnosing the issue, but do not currently have a
fix.<br></p>
<p>Additionally, most financial institutions will require you to
enable your accounts for application-based online banking. I'm
afraid it is usually more productive to lie and tell your bank that
you are using Quicken. Moneydance uses exactly the same OFX server
connection protocol as Quicken but you bank representative many not
know this and mistakenly believe that they do not support
Moneydance. Calling up your bank and stating precisely the
following should get you started. "Please enable direct connect on
my account such that I can connect to your servers directly with
Quicken. Also give me the login credentials I need to connect
Quicken to this service."</p>
<p>Application-based online banking often requires a different
login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking.
When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken,
your financial institution should let you know what customer
ID/login and PIN to use.</p>
<p>Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and I
apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.</p>

<p>I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused folks. Our connection
information for AMEX was out of date. It's been updated now. Could
folks please reset their connections to AMEX adn test this out, to
make sure the problem is fixed? To do so, you can follow these
steps:</p>
<p>1) Select your bank account in Moneydance<br>
2) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu<br>
3) Click the "Disable" button<br>
4) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu
(again)<br>
5) Click the "New Connection" button and select your bank and hit
OK<br>
6) Continue with the setup process, entering your
username/password<br>
7) Repeat steps 1-6 for any additional accounts</p>
<p>Make sure you pick new connection, even though your bank is
still one of the connection choices after you disable it. Choosing
your bank from the list of available banks will force Moneydance to
download the updated information, which should then allow you to
connect.</p>
<p>Please let me know if you continue to have connection problems
after recreating your connections.</p>

<p>That just means that the connection was never successfully set
up in the first place, so there's nothing to disable. You can go
ahead and skip to step 4 of the process I outlined above.</p>

place for<br>
username/password. Only for Customer ID.<br>

<p>Could you possibly post a screenshot of the window where you
only have the customer ID field? I don't have a clear idea what
you're seeing, so I'm not quite sure what might be going on.</p>
