Child categories cannot be of a different type than the parent
category. This is true across Moneydance: Income categories cannot
be the children of Expense accounts, Bank accounts cannot be the
children of Credit Card Accounts.

Our feature request and bug
reporting system is integrated with our wiki. We invite our
users to register and use these systems to help improve Moneydance
by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features.
Users can also vote on tickets, which helps us determine how
wide-spread bug
s are and which requests have the most demand.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank
you for your interest in Moneydance.

behind this logic, however this question popped up in my mind when
I accidentally added a Deposit to an Expense type category.

karatedogtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/11441842010-03-04T02:53:31Z2010-03-04T02:53:31ZIncome child under Expense type parent

Karate,

For report generating purposes I think it is generally simpler
to not mix the types. If it is something that is important to you,
please do make a feature request.
