web site FAQ says pretty clearly that the only support Web Connect
- NOT Direct connect. "ING DIRECT requires Customers to use Web
Connect to download their ING DIRECT account information. "
Apparently they feel that this is a much more secure way to access
your account information. Its a little confusing at first, because
you cannot get your info without first logging into your ING
account, then selecting the download option. You will get a choice
of Quicken or Money formats: choose Money and the file will
download as an OFX file. You then select your ING account in
Moneydance and use the IMPORT FILE option to move the data into
Moneydance; it shows up as downloaded file information and you are
good to go from there. Yes it is a nuisance bur regardless of
Intuit's claims ING does NOT at this time allow direct connect to
ANY outside program. It's not a Moneydance problem; its an ING
policy. What Intuit does do is save you one step by allowing you to
reach ING's web site without having to type in the URL yourself.
From there on the process is the same - access account, download
file, import into financial program

myclosettag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1489402009-04-30T18:55:14Z2009-04-30T18:55:14ZING Direct

Noel, ING Direct in Canada has supported Direct Connect for some
time, and although ING DIrect in the US did previously only support
Web Connect, you're correct, the Intuit site now shows they support
Direct Connect. We will try to add them soon (in the next couple of
days), and I will get back to you. Brian Moneydance Support

Brian Adlertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1489402009-05-31T06:06:04Z2009-05-31T06:06:06ZING Direct

I'm trying Moneydance and have accounts with ING Direct. When

I am a little confused. Has ING (US) recently added support for
Direct Connect? Or is it only in Canada? I thought ING (US) only
supported Web Connect.

gtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1489402009-06-01T00:51:50Z2009-06-01T00:51:50ZING Direct

Pamela and G, We briefly thought that ING (US) supported Direct
Connect. But it is not true. Only ING (CA) supports Direct
Connect.

Brian Adlertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/1489402009-06-12T18:24:27Z2009-06-12T18:24:28ZING Direct

I use Microsoft money, Yodlee, FinanceWorks by Quicken,
Mint.com, They all support what appears to be direct connect with
ING Direct.

I plug in my user ID and password it prompts for the additional
security info. After that they retrieve the data automagically or
on demand when I hit the update button.

I found this because I have been searching for a MS Money
alternative. MS just announced they will be discontinuing MS
Money.

Chad
