Update
My Linux Moneydance reported there was an update for the App. I downloaded it, but when I go to install it the window just says "Remove" and not "Install". So, is there some way to upgrade the version of Moneydance that I have? Thanks

The GDebi Package Installer reports that the moneydance_linux_amd64.deb file is version 2022.5 and states that the same version is already installed, but does give the option of reinstalling the package.
After reinstalling, in Help | About, the version reported is 2022.6 (4097). So the upgrade was successful. It appears that the Debian install file has the wrong version associated with it.

My experience (on Linux Mint 21.1) was identical to Arthur's.

ok...
same here on pop_os. the problem i'm having is HOW do you go about reinstalling the new version without accidently losing the data file.
I apologize for the question, but i just turned 71 and I have trouble with this :)

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Miles
Like a lot of software the Moneydance app and the data files it create are completely separate and stored in separate locations. Delete the Moneydance app and the data file remains.
To be doubly safe do a FILE – EXPORT to do a Moneydance backup to a know location before you install a new build.
Hope this helps.

When you install the deb kit it typically says you already have it installed, I suspect an issue with the headers, you just select to install again and a little later it tells you it is upgrading, it's annoying but fairly minor in the scheme of things. I see it frequently as I test Moneydance on Linux.
Upgrading the program does NOT touch your data files in any way, they are in a completely different location.
It is the same as when you upgrade say your office software, that does not touch your documents, spreadsheets etc.

ha ha! unable to find the "program" file. I might just delete it all and then reinstall
the .files...

Pop_os
dpkg says
Unpacking moneydance (2022.5) over (2022.5) ...
Setting up moneydance (2022.5) ...
but Help/About does indeed say 2022.6.
