how can I see if a transaction was merged?

Is there any way when I'm looking at a transaction to know if it was previously merged?

I've downloaded hundreds of transactions (via MD+) and am now trying to reconcile everything. Sometimes I see a transaction that was not confirmed, and I know that it is half of a transaction that might need to be merged, or maybe was merged already. If it was already merged then I can go ahead and confirm it. (BTW, I dont understand why after merging a transaction when I confirm one side of the merged transaction moneydance does not merge the other side also.) But sometimes it was not merged yet, and if I confirm it then I will prevent it from being merged in the future.

Surely there must be some obvious way for me to see if the transaction was merged yet or not, without needing to hunt and see if I still have a second transaction for the other side...

thanks for your advice

A transaction that has been downloaded and confirmed (merging is part of the confirmation process) will have a open blue circle next to it in the register. Right click on any transaction and selecting shows details will give a lot of behind the scenes information on the transaction.

There are no linkages in the download transactions between the two sides that software can use to make such an identification of two sides of a transaction. Transaction IDs are the only behind the scenes info the software can use and these are used to identify duplicates these IDs will be different on the two transactions since they are intended to be unique within an account not within all accounts you hold with an institution. Software is working with limited information and with financial information the tendency is to not make any assumptions.
