First of all, you will want to review the MD documentation
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/budgeting-2

Then I suggest using the Old Style Mixed Interval budget form.
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/budgeting-2/the-mixed-interva...

The process involves the following. (for the Mixed Interval method)
1. Creating the new budget with your own preferred budget name.
Tools, Budget Manager, New, (your budget name), Period (Mixed Interval Old Style), Create. Now you can close the budget list window.

You should now see your new budget listed on the left panel of your main screen.

Select your new budget from the left window pane and in the top right of the blank budget window click "Edit". You now get a new window where you can add your budget items. Click the + in the bottom left corner and you will see a budget line appear. Enter the amount, select the category (expense or income), then set the interval (defaults to monthly, I suggest Monthly (not prorated). Then select the start date and leave the end date blank unless that budget item has a limited time needed). Now go through the same process until all your budget items are entered.. Click OK and your done.

Now you can refer to your new budget name to run reports and set the main page budget graph.

Have fun.

I would also suggest using the ForeSight Forcast application under the Tools tab. It allows you to use your reminders to forecast future account balances.

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/591154922023-06-03T14:22:36Z2023-06-03T14:22:39Ztwo different categories for the same budget

I have read all that you sent me, thank you, but I did not find information on how to make one budget for two or more categories, ie select two categories and say that they have a limit of 140, now I see that you can only individually for each category

Perhaps you can give me some tips on how to achieve this

Myrontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/591154922023-06-03T15:53:49Z2023-06-03T15:58:56Ztwo different categories for the same budget

just a user,

Not sure if I completely understand, but you can set up a budget with 100's of categories and you can use the same category multiple times. You can also have multiple budgets set up . The only limitation I know of is setting up a budget for a loan payment if loan is also set up on MD. That is considered a transfer and MD ignores it. But there are ways to work around that limitation if needed.

For instance. You may have your medical insurance payment set up in your budget, but then in November you are advised the amount will change in the new year. To deal with that you set and end date for the current year budget category and add a duplicate category entry with the new amounts that start on the 1st month of the new year. The old one stops and the new one begins, with the same category being used

mhoggietag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/591154922023-06-03T16:02:21Z2023-06-03T16:03:02Ztwo different categories for the same budget

just a user,

Now if you are trying to use the default new style calendar budget, you can still enter amounts for each category, but you can only set one category one time. and the budget has to be moved forward each month. It's very limited

mhoggie
