Upgrade to MD 2023
I currently run MD 2022.6 4097, and have been for a long time. I don't sync and don't use Moneydance +. I suspect there are features I would like in 2023, and I qualify for a reduced price upgrade. I have 2 unrelated questions.
First, I see that 2023 5006 is the latest non-preview, but 2023 5007 has been the latest preview for quite a while with no subsequent updates. Which version should I download? Or do I even get a choice?
In the "Currently have 2017 version" thread, I read the instruction to
"Turn off your Moneydance Password and backup Moneydance before upgrading. You can reinstate your password once you have opened your data in 2023.
I don't know how to do that, and why I should do that?

As you say, 5006 is production. 5007 is preview, but in this case is a bug fix release. Some previews are for beta testers, 5007 is 5006 with bug fixes.
You can get 5007 at Moneydance.com/preview
The 2017 answer is about upgrading multi years… you shouldn’t need to worry about it.
Personally, I do use sync and md+ and qualify for a free upgrade from 4097… but again personally, have not found anything compelling to upgrade from 4097 (at this time, I’m sure at some point I will upgrade)
