Hi Tom
Here is the process I recommend you follow.
Locate your Moneydance data file on your old machine. If you don't know where it is saved you can use your computer search function to search for all files ending with ".md" without the quotes.
Make a copy of your Moneydance data file and move it to your new machine. The are many ways you could move the file and I think the easiest would be to email it to your self as an attachment and then download that attachment on your new machine.
Download the latest free trial version of Moneydance from this link:
http://moneydance.com/other
Install it on your new machine.
Register Moneydance on your new machine using your existing licence key.
Run Moneydance and select File->Open and select the md file you moved over from your old computer.
