Security Price Entry extension
This comment was split from the discussion: Data File Size and Response Times
You may be right, Maddy. The inebriation only started in the last year or so and I only started syncing in that time period. I want to be able to sync (I am not willing to use any site other than Apple/iCloud), but it not a need, so if it continues like it has over the next week or so I will disable syncing.
Separate question: On Security Price Entry extension, is it possible to only list active stocks/bonds? I do a manual update every Friday and month-end, since to auto-updates don't work for me at Yahoo, etc., and I don't have an API. I can post as a new query if you wish.
Thanks..

There are no configuration options for the Security price extension is just picks up all securities that are present and there is not an option to make a security inactive which I think would be the core ability required.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Will
To obtain security prices try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION
For information on the features of Quote Loader and how to use see post 103 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/7595-quo...
Download the PDF’s attached to post 103 and have a read.
To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.
The Quick Start Video is intended to give a quick overview so the user can see if Quite loader looks like it could work for them. The Short Video expands the user’s knowledge giving more detail. The Full Video goes even further but may be to wordy for some.
The PDF reinforces what’s leaned in the videos, provides step by step instructions, a must read and provide answers on how to handle less obvious issues some users may come across.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post. If any securities return an error then post your base currency, the Ticker, full Security Name and last price you have and its traded currency or just post a screen shot of the Quote Loader windows after you click GET PRICES.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Derek.
I will run it next Friday and let you know how I get on. I only update
weekly, though I may do it more often if I can automate it.

I update daily on startup with Quote Loader.

I'm a fellow Moneydance user.
There is the ability to have automated runs at the Moneydance level or at the operating system level, One of Derek's guides is about automation on Windows.

@Will - can you try this updated extension Security Price Entry (108). Unzip to install.. I have added filters to enable you to filter out inactive and zero balance securities....
Let me know? Thanks

Nice update Stuart.

Thanks 👍
Include:
- the pesky “1” fix - auto move to next row for quick data entry - window now remembers last size/position - new filters (exclude inactive and zero balance securities) - now sorts by security name (ignoring case)

Sweet. Upgrade appreciated. Instead of having hundreds of securities listed I have 57.
Thank you, Stuart.

@will @dwg - with the new filters enabled it would be good for you to do a quick update test and confirm it’s all working and updating as it should. No reason it shouldn’t but you can never be too sure.

I tested it with filters enables then entered the price of a few securities, worked as expected.
