You have a number of options:
1. With the register open choose the Moneydance menu option Account --> Edit Account and set the initial balance to 5000.00
2. Create a category for initial balances. Then enter a transaction drawing on the initial balances category you created for the amount of 5000.00

on your number 1 edit account is gray out or have not add any account yet, can not create account?
that strange going from email and program, now see edit and add account.edit account shows my file account RA2 which I named first.
under TOOLS you have accounts and categories . also have ACCOUNTS in bar to add account. That is a bit confusing?
When you first start the program with your name on left bar it already has a saving and checking account under bank. why make other account with beginning balance for savings or cash? how to add balance to saving?
found right click on savings to add information to savings.

The Account menu gives quick access to create a new account or change the account that is currently open. The Tools menu gives access to all accounts.
Moneydance come with two accounts already created as examples, you can have as many account as you need. Many of us have multiple accounts under each heading.
I have provided two ways of entering an initial balance for an account.
The Knowledge Base articles may also help you. The entry point is:

The Moneydance menu item File --> Print Transactions prints out the register how it looks on the screen. Moneydance is really designed though around creating specific reports and printing these. Raw transaction printing is generally not of any great use.
You can refer to the Knowledge Base for more information about reports.
