Have used Moneydance for many years and I have built up a lot of data over this period.
I am considering switching from Windows PC to IoS Laptop.
Will Moneydance work on IoS?
If I switched can I restore my data to the new operating system?
Thanks

Currently the IOS app is a helper application only and Moneydance requires Windows, macOS or Linux as a base system.

Are you certain about using iOS? I ask because you mention both iOS and using a laptop. As far as I know, iOS is Apple's mobile operating system, designed for things like their phones and tablets. Laptops still run a full version of MacOS, and therefore can run the full Moneydance program.

If you could let us know the specific device and operating system you want to move to, we may be able to provide a more definitive answer.

Wgat you seem to be saying I could continue using Moneydance with the new set up?

Will the backup files just transfer across?

    Thanks

    Hi Neil,

I think we need more specific information from you about your new system: what kind of device it is, and the specific operating system it is running. With that information, we can provide a more detailed response.

So, I may have to turn the question to you and ask what system would I need in an Apple/Mac laptop to get to the desired point?

As a regular computer user but not a computer “geek” I may choose the easiest option and stay with PC?

The reason I am considering this change is the enforced change to Windows 11 and neither of my current computers are able to run Windows 11

In the mac world you would need a machine running macOS. This can be a notebook type machine. Notebooks always have an inbuilt keyboard

Tablets in the Apple world run IOS which is a mobile Operating system and this will not run a standalone version of Moneydance. Keyboards are normally an optional extra with tablets.

Your iPhone is a system that runs IOS. Tablets in the Apple world are commonly called iPad.

Windows 10 goes EOL next October so you have some time. If you are a long time Windows user it may be easier to stay with Windows for now.

We do have hopes of a more complete version of Moneydance on devices like tablets running IOS and Android but we are not at that stage yet.

Thanks. That’s all very helpful. I’m feeling staying with what I know sounds the better option!
