source FT
For what does the source FT stand when referring to Quote Loader? Does it really make Quote Loader work properly for MoneyDance
Version 2024.1, Build (5118)?

Michael
Quote Loader downloads prices from either ft.com or yahoo.com. The
source FT refers to ft.com. Have a look at
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/7595-quote-loader-version-2/page/4#comment_62853532.
It describes how Quote Loader works
.

I have Yahoo HD not Yahoo HD ++. Is this my problem?

No Yahoo and Yahoo HD refer to yahoo.com, please read the mentioned info.

I changed to FT for all my U.S. straight stock, mutual funds and etfs. For
my 1
Canadian stock, I left it to Yahoo HD.
Then I tried a test which was to note my volumes for my U.S. stock at Yahoo
and at FT for 13 Dec 2024. The volume for
each such stock was slightly different when comparing the HD run against
the FT run.

Yahoo and Yahoo HD use the same call to yahoo.com whereas FT and FT HD use different calls. FT use the current price and volumes whereas FT HD uses the historical prices which will be the close prices of the security. I would expect different volumes between FT and FT HD when run during the trading day. Remember FT only gets the current price. FT HD tries to fill in the close prices since you last ran Quote Loader.

I found something online. It says, “To download data from Yahoo do the
following:” 1. Access stock data on Yahoo, 2. Download the data using
a CSV file and 3. Import the CSV file
into MoneyDance. Exactly how do
you do each of these step at the
Yahoo web site and how would you
do them to get share price, volume,
high share price and low share
price?

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Michael
I am not sure why you would want to take the long route you describe of using CSV files when Quote Loader provides a direct route for obtaining the same information.
Your issue seems to be with volumes and I just replied to another of your posts at
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/moneydance-developme...
Hope this helps

I managed to use your program last night. It always gives me the right
Yahoo share prices so far, but: 1. I would
expect it to look backwards to retrieve
the High and Low share prices for
yesterday, today, in order to self correct
yesterday’s High and Low equal
values {they being the same yesterday)
and 2. Similarly, I would expect the
same look back procedure for volumes.
Is this even possible?

Are you trying to use Quote Loader as a day trading mechanism?
If so, please realize QL is intended as a methodology to get stock prices so you can manage your personal finances, not to provide info to allow for day trading - which also usually involves multiple queries per day, which puts QL at risk of being shut down by yahoo.
If not, can you give more information on why all the data (and the required accuracy) you want affects your values within Moneydance?

I am not a day trader. I do not use Quote loader multiple times during the
day. I do use Moneydance multiple times a day.
