account passwords
I easily downloaded all of my accounts from my bank.... there were three. I recently encrypted them as suggested for security... and now I have the following questions:
-
When I open Moneydance, I have to enter the generic password given to me by my bank to download and update current account data. Because I have three accounts, have to enter the same password for each account separately. Is there a way around that?
-
Since I have encrypted my file is there a way to set that up as automatic (as in Quicken) when the encrypted file is accessed?
-
Is there a security concern that I am using my bank's default password?
Thanks,
Peggy

Hi Peggy,
Since you've already encrypted your Moneydance data file, MD will now allow you to store your user names and passwords to download your txns. File > Encryption... > put a check mark next to 'Store Online Passwords in File'
From the Menu bar, click on 'Online' then 'Download All Accounts'
After encrypting your data file, you may be asked one last time to enter your username and password for each account but that should be it.
I think it unwise to use the default bank password.

Peggy,
Kevin is correct that since your data file is encrypted, you can choose to have your bank passwords stored (thank you Kevin), and I agree with Kevin that it would be best to choose your own personal password.
