Creating a New Data set, but can I still access the old one?
Here's to All having a Safe and Prosperous New Year...... After becoming frustrated with my own lack of motivation to keep my finances accurately reconciled, I have decided to create a New Year Dataset with just minimal basic accounts (i.e. Checking, Savings, Credit Union) starting with January Banking Statements. I assume I can create a New Data Set and Name it what I want, then edit each accounts info similar to what I had prior. My questions are as follows: I assume only ONE Dropbox file can be synced at a time, thereby requiring a NEW Pass Phrase for the New Data (Accounts) list. If I do this, will my Android App require Resetting and Resyncing with the New Pass Phrase? Secondly, Can I go switch back to the Old dataset on my PC for reference if needed, by Opening the old file? I'm guessing if the Old dataset Sync is now disabled, and the new Dataset synced properly I would think nothing would be disturbed. I could research what I want or create reference reports and then switch back to the New and current January 2025 Dataset which would also be the new data Synced with my phone... I hope I am not being too confusing in attempting to explain what I'm up to. Thanks for Looking.

Humble Update....... Just read the FAQ about creating multiple Data Sets which basically gives me the answer I need about creating multiple Files.... However I would still like know how syncing would work if one has more than one "active" File to work on.. Would the current file I'm working in Sync to my phone? Then if I switched files later to edit something else, would "that" file sync but overwrite the file on my phone so the phone would always have the last worked on file set?? This is most curious.

Use file/open to switch between datasets
Sync is unique to each dataset and will not give you issues by switching.
HOWEVER, the mobile apps can only point to one sync at a time. It syncs to whichever it’s pointed to. You would have to manually reconfigure mobile each time.
But. To be clear. It’s fine to file/open dataset B whilst phone is syncing to dataset A. No issues here.

Thank you most kindly for your reply. That will probably work just fine. Use and Sync the New dataset whilst going back occasionally to the old one on the PC for reference or small info carryover. Thank you again... Going forward, now I have to make SURE I keep up with proper reconciliation and not slack off.......

Good Afternoon!!! I am ecstatic to say your guidance has worked perfectly...(at least so far..) I have just finished two hours of "renovating" my Moneydance data files and can easily switch between old and new. I have been able to transfer account data to a much smaller data set for the New 2 025 calendar year. Hopefully this will encourage me to be diligent about timely reconciliation going forward.
