I am trying to find info on how to archive data within a certain date range so as to make the current data file smaller.
Happy to hear suggestions.

Hello,
You can find details on most aspects of the program in our online knowledge base: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb
There is no archive function in Moneydance. Can you explain in a bit more detail what problem you are trying to solve? How large is your data file? Many people have decades of history in their files, but this shouldn't affect the program's performance.

The manual takes the form of an online Knowledge Base, It is organised much like a book with chapters and sections. The entry point is:
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb
There was an archiving feature in Moneydance, it was removed in the 2015 version because it could cause severe data integrity issues that cannot be solved. There is not a type of archiving that can work reliably across all account types.
The Toolbox extension has the capability to remove redundant data and thus reduce your Account set size.
After starting the extension, select update mode. The option is on the Advanced Options menu and is called Shrink Dataset, the minimum is 0.

Thanks for all the replies.
To dwg:
Thanks for jogging my memory. I do remember that archiving was a function within MoneyDance. And to have it confirmed that it has been removed.
Ethan:
Interesting to hear that MD can support decades of data. I was concerned (unnecessarily) that too much data would choke the database. Not the case. Good to know.

I and others have data going back to the 1980's in Moneydance.
If there is going to be a problem it is likely to be with backup times, but that generally still only occurs when you are using the attachment feature with large attachments. It is a good idea to shrink their size before attaching them and to also use the most efficient format that you can, formats like BMP can be quite bad and even some PDFs are also quite inefficient.
