just a user,
There are 2 sides to a transaction. Account to category, Account to Account, etc.
Showing the other side will display the category involved or the account.

If you just have a single side you have nothing more than a list of transactions, that is likely to be lists of transactions in your various bank accounts.
The other side tells where the Money came from or went to. This data is typically used to generate Income and Expense reports to start with.

Thanks for your email.
They only seem to be there in imported transactions from my bank.

Hello Simon,
Do you mean that you have transactions that don't seem to have anything in the Category fields in your register? If so, do you remember how these were entered in the program? Can you attach a screenshot of a few of these in your register so we can better understand what you are seeing? If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, please see http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/
In general it shouldn't be possible to have transactions without an 'other side' of the transaction, as this breaks accounting rules.

just a user,
Someone indicated a month ago that they had created a blank category. That's probably not a good idea if that is the case. Blanks or spaces are used as delimiters and could cause program issues
