In a previous and similar thread in 2025, Stuart Beasley posted a script that would dump the categories to text.csv. I ran this and it worked.

However, the comments data associated with the Category Name seems to be missing from the .csv file. Is it possible to add a setting that would produce/add the comments from the category data base? I added many comments when I generate categories to help me remember 2 years later (for example) what the categories name means. It would be very handy to have a printed out csv file, etc., handy to refer to (rather than scrolling through the Categories menu in the app) so that I can easily locate what I am looking for and not generate another category. It is just a way for me to stay better organized. After using MD for ten years now, I have generated an extensive library of categories. Additionally, if I were to want to import the category list to another account set, it would be great to be able to include the comments and avoid having to re-enter them...which would take a very long time. Thanks, Henry Sully

The latest preview/signed extract data extension can extract category info.

    Grab from my site.

Thank you Stuart! It worked as expected.

Now, if I wanted to make any edits to the comments in the .csv file, do you know
of a way to import the file back into Moneydance categories in order to capture
    the edited comments?
