I need to edit some graphs and reports I'm a new user and I now have 3 months of history in Moneydance, for reports I need to focus in on three snapshots
1. My personal expenses - currently I have these items all analysed by category under "personal" with various sub categories
2. Joint expenditure I'm married and although we recently got a joint account not all the joint expenditure comes out of that account again it has been classified by category in the history so far
3. I have a third income stream from a rental property so a need a report that allows me to view income & expenditure again the income and bills are spread over a few accounts.

Editing the graphs and reports only seems to give me the option to chose which accounts to select but not to select all accounts and should only chosen categories.

Am I wrong any comments would be appreciated

You can use the tag option on your transactions to track as you wish. You can create a tag for "rental", "joint", "husband", "wife" or whatever you wish. You can apply multiple tags to each transaction. In order to edit your list of available tags, click the Tools->Edit Transaction Tags menu. You can then select tags for transactions using the popup field in the transaction edit form.

Then you can sort the both the transaction and income and expense report by the tags you assigned.

This allows you to use the same account/categories while delineating the spending within each.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom

    Hi helenchisholm,
Just to add to Tom's suggestion...
For more flexibility with generating Graphs, de-select the 'Show Top:' X option in the Graphs Edit window.
For Reports, click on the blue 'By Individual' text next to 'Show:' in the Repors Edit window.

One more comment for you: You don't mention which graphs/reports you want to use, but to select particular categories see post 2 in this discussion and see if it helps http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/questions/2021-how-to-gene.... The category selection works the same in many reports/graphs (though not all).
