Workaround for Inability to Merge Transactions in Investment Checking Accounts
Sorry to bring this up one more time. I know you have a solution
in the pipeline.
After experimenting with workarounds, including doing a batch transfer to a banking account, I haven't found a way to deal with this situation:
- I get a notice that PG&E will process an automatic payment
to my brokerage checking account on 12/15/2010 (in the future) for
$60.
- So that I will remember what this $60 was for, I add a
transaction for PG&E, 12/15/2010, $60.
- After the charge occurs, I download the transaction.
It is my understanding that there's no way to merge those two
(the manually entered and the downloaded transaction). I need to
manually edit the description and category of the downloaded
transaction, then delete the manually entered transaction.
And from my experience, I've determined that I can't just delete the downloaded transaction, because in that case it will just be downloaded/entered again next time.
Is that correct?

Hi xxtemp
Your understanding is correct. I am afraid there is no better way that i can think of to handle that situation.
