How to?
I have 3 questions:
1. Would I need to purchase license again if I change from Mac to Windows platform? I assume exporting from Mac to Win present no problem whatsoever.
2. How do I change my Assets to Investment?
3. How do I enter car loan repayment schedule?
Thanks and so far so good with your programme.
Francis

can you show me how to change an account from Asset to Investment?

Hi Francis,
If you decide to purchase a license key you will not need to repurchase. Your license key will work on any installation of Moneydance, regardless of OS. If you purchase MD2015, this will entitle you to a free upgrade to MD2016 (when available) and all future versions will be discounted for you. However, we'll never 'sunset' older versions of the software, so you can continue to use the same version for as long as you wish.
To change an Asset transaction into an Investment transaction, you simply need to right click the relevant transaction and Batch Change --> Account, then select the investment account you wish to transfer this to. To select multiple transactions, hold the shift key before right clicking.
Regarding your third question, you can set up a loan account by specifying this account type within Account --> New Account. I believe the feature you require for scheduling is reminders. There are two types of reminder available for use within Moneydance, 'General' and 'Transaction'. Transaction Reminders are transactions that appear on the calendar and Home Page according to a set schedule, and can be recorded into your register directly. You can add transactions up within Tools --> Reminders, and can read more about them within the User Guide, specifically Chapter 8, Page 56.
I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if you have any further questions.

one more question.
Say I have purchased a lot of photographic equipments over the year using different accounts and now I want to have a look how much I have spent over the years in total and in details. How do I do that?

I transferred all the transaction from Moneywell and it is called Moneywell Export.
How do I save it with another name?

Hi Francis,
If these specific transactions have been assigned the same Category or Tag then you should be able to locate them, either using Tools --> Graphs and Reports or Edit Menu --> Find/Advanced Search. You can also go to Tools --> Categories, right click the relevant category and select 'Open in new window' to see a list of all transactions with this category assigned.
You might be interesting in checking out our User Guide, specifically Chapter 3, Page 22 which details the register and transaction basics.
To rename your data set go to Help --> Show documents folder, this will take you to the default location of your data set. You are looking for a 'yourfilename.moneydance' file. Close Moneydance, change the name of the file (be sure to retain the .moneydance extension in the name). When you open Moneydance again you will likely be presented with the 'Welcome to Moneydance' window, click Open Other and a file browser will open, allowing you to navigate to and select your newly renamed data.
