Fidelity Access
If I understand correctly Fidelity is replacing use of direct connect / OFX protocol with a new protocol referred to as "Fidelity Access". From what I can see Moneydance (and Quicken) do not (yet?) support this new protocol.
This is important in that Fidelity has indicated the continued use of MoneyDance then violates their lost funds replacement guarantee due to use of nonapproved 3rd party. Note that their use of term "3rd Party" seems different than infinitekind.
I note that Vanguard has also stopped use of OFX and does not seem to have a replacement intent. Have to use downloads by account.
Can anyone at Moneydance provide current status of this? Will Moneydance be updated to support Fidelity Access?

So taking advantage of Kevin's great idea, I have the latest MD running in a Win10 (up to date) virtual box against a copy of my actual data.
I installed the extension and ignored the signing stuff.
I downloaded a file called Accounts_History.csv and did it while looking at the display of All Accounts so I hope I did that right - not one file per account - of which I have several.
But when I try to execute the extension and point it at the file, it gives an error and I see this in the console:
File "extension(import_fidelity):import_fidelity.py", line 420, in doMain
NameError: global name 'key' is not defined
File "extension(import_fidelity):import_fidelity.py", line 441, in doMain
File "extension(import_fidelity):import_fidelity.py", line 123, in dump
Anyone have any ideas here? Thanks to all and especially to those who helped make this extension!

@whitedavidp Did you get the extension from https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/general-questions/24... ?
Your error message makes me think you got one from an earlier comment that had a typo in it and would have resulted in that error.
Latest one should be version 8.
I think the one with that error was version 6.
Thanks!

Thanks. I am not quite sure now. I will download from your link and try again.
Ahhhh, that's better!
When I run it I get completion. I do see a popup:
ERROR: unknown action: 'INTEREST EARNED FDIC INSURED DEPOSIT AT FIFTH THIRD ... (QPIKQ) (Cash)' . Will record as Xfr
ERROR: unknown action: 'INTEREST EARNED FDIC INSURED DEPOSIT AT US BANK IRA ... (QUSCQ) (Cash)' . Will record as Xfr
Created 3 transactions
ERROR: unknown action: 'INTEREST EARNED FDIC INSURED DEPOSIT AT FIFTH THIRD ... (QPIKQ) (Cash)' . Will record as Xfr
ERROR: unknown action: 'INTEREST EARNED FDIC INSURED DEPOSIT AT US BANK IRA ...
But I do see some records of interest payments in my 3 accounts. Cool!
I do not see some sell and interest transactions from mid-December. Did I screw up the CSV download somehow? - YES, I DID! I forgot to hit apply when selecting the time frame. Sorry!
I did have some issues with duplicate entries but seem now to have gotten some control over that. Overall, this extension is a life-saver. Thanks! I am still planning to move my accounts from Fidelity. But not sure to where just yet.
Thanks

Hello all I am getting numerous errors running the GitHub program. Running updated Mac IOS, Moneydance 2024.2. Have tried multiple csv formats and columns. and see the attached error codes below. Is there a single comment that shows start to finish how to run the program? I downloaded all transactions from fidelity in csv. Have correct naming, account numbers. I am unsure on the column titles but took straight from fidelity. any help appreciated. When the csv file will read the preview shows blank and the second error pops up for importing

Hi slj,
Thank you for the screenshot.
You're using the wrong extension. The extension that you are using is for Bank & Credit Card accounts.
Download and install the import_fdelity.mxt extension from here:
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/general-questions/24...
Once installed, access it from the Extensions menu.
It will be titled 'Import Fidelity Investment txns from csv'.
Clicking on it will open a file explorer.
Navigate to the csv file that you downloaded from Fidelity to import it.

I downloaded the latest version of the extension and when running it on a .csv file, I get the error "Error detected whilst running script: '"Action" (review console)
Can anyone help?

@Maddy
Has there been any further progress on this front by MD? This is a VERY frustrating situation and I echo the sentiments of many of the previous users regarding enduring all of the functional twist and turns of MD over the past decade+ to now have this most basic of functions rendered useless. I was hoping to wait out the coordination between MD and Fidelity, but is that a fool's errand? When do you think this will be resolved?
Thank you.

I have sent secure messages to Fidelity urging them to address this situation with highest priority. I also asked them why I wasn't notified of the pending disabling of OFX, given that they must have OFX log files and surely can associate my downloads with my accounts.
IK developers: would it help you get Fidelity's attention if you have a list of Fidelity customers who use Moneydance and are affected?
309 Posted by rlsantella on 21 Jan, 2026 03:20 PM
For those of us with multiple active Fidelity accounts, a definitive secure solution must be found. The current extension is too cumbersome with too many errors.
310 Posted by Tim on 21 Jan, 2026 03:28 PM
Totally agree ... I'm getting ready to move all my FIDELITY Accounts back to Vanguard. AT least Vanguard still provides a straight forward download of an OFX Quicken file to Import. A lot less tedious than THIS approach, imho.
311 Posted by Billy Goat on 21 Jan, 2026 07:52 PM
I sent a similarly hostile secure message to Fidelity just now.
312 Posted by rlsantella on 21 Jan, 2026 09:20 PM
I sent a secure message to Fidelity as well. However, I will seek an alternative to Moneydance before I will abandon Fidelity.
313 Posted by mmd on 22 Jan, 2026 09:34 PM
@tiptonbob are you downloading a multi-account CSV file by logging into Fidelity, going to Activity, and choosing Download and save CSV? Anything showing up in the Moneydance console (Help -> Console Window)?

@Billy
We want to reassure you and all our customers that making a Moneydance+ connection with Fidelity is a top priority for us.
We’re actively working toward it, but because of the technical and regulatory steps involved, the process can take a bit of time.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue moving this forward

Thanks for the update Maddy.

Hello, @Maddy,
It sounds like the way forward with Moneydance connections to Fidelity is via Moneydance+. My understanding of MD+ is that it is built on Plaid. MD+ users have to trust Plaid with credentials to their accounts, even though (apparently) Plaid has proven untrustworthy on that front. Can you please help me understand the MD+ security model, what protections we will have with MD+ and why we should trust Plaid? Of course end-to-end encryption is a minimum requirement, but the more serious issues are e.g. Plaid (or less likely IMO MD) abusing the user's trust by e.g. tracking the user's finances for gain.

@ testonecypher
Generally, Moneydance+ and Privacy matters are detailed in this blog page.
Please be assured that neither Plaid nor Moneydance ever sees your password or even username for that matter. The bank redirects your browser back to Plaid with a token that is used to access your accounts at that bank for some period of time (usually 3 months or similar). That said, if you decide you want to stop the process for any reason, you can simply navigate to the bank's website to revoke third party access, if you wish.
Usually as soon as the access token is acquired by the Moneydance+ server, it is encrypted using the public key from your linked data file. That means that only your data file can ever decrypt that access key, and even our server cannot access it.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

@mmd When I used the earlier version I got “zero transactions,” even though I could see them in excel. It is the later version that gives me the script error.
319 Posted by mmd on 24 Jan, 2026 03:46 PM
@tiptonbob Are you using v8 of the extension? if not please use that one (v7 had some bugs). If you are still having issues, could you please email the CSV file to mmd at mmd.eml.monster ? This will forward to my email (anonymously) since there's no secure message function. If not let me know and I'll figure out another way to send it to me.

So, Fidelity decided to screw over their own customers some more. They want me to pay a subscription for an aggregator which is definitionally less secure than the old OFX server. But they don't actually support the major aggregator.
And moribund Moneydance has dropped the ball entirely.
Who do people use instead of Fidelity? Is there anyone out there who isn't going to force me to pay a 3rd party to get my own data?
321 Posted by dtd on 25 Jan, 2026 01:29 AM
How has"moribund" moneydance dropped the ball entirely? Message 314 describes what moneydance is working on - do you expect an instant fix when fidelity dropped ofx without (public) warning?
Also, the user community has worked on an interim fix. An extension now at v8 was developed basically live in this thread, and although it's not yet "perfect", it works for me and others at this time, with improvements being made. Not bad for 45 days, after finding nothing written elsewhere (except a willing icreateofx to make it work on their software).
I'd hardly call that a moribund response to what fidelity did to all their clients.
"Moribund refers to a state of being near death or dying, and it can also describe something that is inactive or obsolete."

Quicken and Fidelity have been having problems for MONTHS (since at least June 2025) and that's with Quicken being worked with by Fidelity due to their size and being informed. We've had less than two months (since Dec 1) to react to this and have a mostly working interim fix, and MD is discussing potential paths toward a direct fix.
Since Dec 1, it appears that Quicken has found their work since June wasn't ready for prime time... here's a 12/19/2025 update of what they were doing a month ago.

mmd,
Your extension works great for Fidelity IRA / Roth IRA / Cash Management etc. but, when it comes to my company's 401(k) and ESOP, Fidelity changed the csv file layout. I receive an ERROR as expected. I downloaded the QIF for these accounts but, Fidelity names the Securities differently so another challenge. Thanks for all your help.

@mmd - Just want to say thanks to you, S Beesley, and anyone else who has contributed to the fidelity import extension. Your effort to develop and implement this extension on short notice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!
325 Posted by mmd on 26 Jan, 2026 10:48 PM
@ExplodingSidewalk FWIW, I have the same login for CMA/Brokerage/IRA and 403b/457b and all download in the same (extension compatible) format if you do a download for all accounts together. Not sure if you can add some kind of access to your CMA/Brokerage/IRA to the employer login so that you can get the 401(k) and ESOP in your extension compatible CSV file.
Thanks @Quercus47 !!!

@mmg
I am using v.8. Attaching the error that I got. I'm not comfortable sending my financial information out. Any other suggestions?
327 Posted by dtd on 27 Jan, 2026 08:45 PM
@tiptonbob - l think all @mmd might need is the header structure. the file is readable, extract that line and sending it will probably help by showing a different structure (or not)

So how do I get this fidelity extension added to my Moneydance. If It doesn't work, I'll just migrate to Gnucash.
329 Posted by Quercus47 on 28 Jan, 2026 02:56 PM
@cscj01 - see Post #305 by Kevin N. for more information - the download may come over as a zip file. If so, just change the extension from .zip to .mxt and install from the Moneydance extension menu. Hope that helps.
