Fidelity Access
If I understand correctly Fidelity is replacing use of direct connect / OFX protocol with a new protocol referred to as "Fidelity Access". From what I can see Moneydance (and Quicken) do not (yet?) support this new protocol.
This is important in that Fidelity has indicated the continued use of MoneyDance then violates their lost funds replacement guarantee due to use of nonapproved 3rd party. Note that their use of term "3rd Party" seems different than infinitekind.
I note that Vanguard has also stopped use of OFX and does not seem to have a replacement intent. Have to use downloads by account.
Can anyone at Moneydance provide current status of this? Will Moneydance be updated to support Fidelity Access?

Both mmd's extension and Fidelity/Plaid work for me.
Rather than assuming that this issue must be Moneydance's fault, I disconnected completely and restarted the process, I've attached a pic when I got to account names.
Given you are only getting Brokerage Account, have you given specific names to each of your accounts within Fidelity to specifically identify them? That way they should identify themselves by name when connecting them.
As for he, if you are pointing to this problem, I have the same answer, if you're pointing to things like needing to change a miscexp to an xfr and such, that issue is endemic to most brokerage accounts vs. only fidelity, so your second sentence entreaty doesn't apply. That's a more global issue on what Plaid/bank provides versus what direct connect provided. So I change those when necessary, and do hope some work will go against it for a 2026 release.

I have unique account names in Fidelity. The problem was not at the selection point you showed with your screenshot. That was fine. The problem was within MD when attempting to match the Fidelity account with the MD account. I got it to work by setting up MD+ connections one Fidelity account at a time rather than checking multiple accounts in the list.

For those using Plaid and having trouble matching online Fidelity accounts with MD accounts, you might be making the same mistake I did. After connecting with MD+ via Plaid do not use the Online->Match Online Accounts dropdown menu to match accounts. That is only for the old OFX/QFX matching. Rather, use the Moneydance+ option.

I get the message this morning that Plaid is unable to connect to Fidelity. Anyone else as well?

Mines working fine - weekends are often broken up by server maintenance periods.

I'm seeing issues with CMA not downloading/missing transactions. All of my other brokerage accounts at Fidelity download fine. I'm using Moneydance+ and have disconnected/reconnected, reset sync dates multiple times with no luck. Looking forward to this working flawlessly in the future as well as merging in investment registers.

For those able to use both, can you use both or do you get duplicate transactions? I'm guessing you'd have to deal with duplicates. I'd like to have the Plaid automation but download and import when I want transactions more quickly.
Also, I've always dealt with the core account transactions, which happen in some accounts, by zeroing out those transactions but leaving them. That prevents duplicates and cash is in cash. Then delete all the zeroed transactions weeks or a month later. (Sometimes I find it best to leave them until the next month to remind myself what I did.)
488 Posted by dtd on 24 Jun, 2026 05:48 AM
Yes, you get duplicates moving back and forth. different fitids which are used to declare duplicates. The best action, unless you go back and forth a lot is to delete the old and keep the new.

Given that Plaid now officially supports Fidelity (presumably via Akoya), what happens now to the direct Moneydance+->Akoya->Fidelity connection that the IK team has been working on for the past 6 months? Is that going to be abandoned?
FWIW, I'm pleased that Plaid finally supports Fidelity, but I'm disappointed that it was discovered by a moneydance user doing some random testing, rather than this being a development that IK received as a heads-up via their "official channels" with Plaid).

Using the new Fidelity-Plaid-Moneydance+ rickety connection, I am being told every 2-3 days that my link has expired, and I have to log in, check two boxes, and re-link. Is this just me? Any way to avoid this repeated inconvenience?

@David
Is it possible that you were connecting using the OFX service method prior to switching to Moneydance +?
If this is the case for you, in order to stop the OFX method taking over Moneydance + and allow your transactions to download as expected, you should clear the current connection information still stored within the program.
To remove the connection, open Moneydance, select your account in the side bar and choose Online > Set Up Online Banking->OFX Service and select the "Disable" button to remove the connection.
Finally restart Moneydance.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

This comment was split into a new private discussion: Fidelity - relink
@Maddy
Thank you for your reply. But "Set Up Online Banking" takes me to the same place as "Set Up Moneydance+", and there is no OFX Service option. Also I am successfully downloading transactions from Fidelity (and elsewhere) via Moneydance+ and Plaid. It's just that Fidelity repeatedly tells me their link has expired and forces me to "reconnect". When I do that, it works for a few days, until it expires again.

It seems that Plaid has enabled some sort of connection to certain Fidelity services through Moneydance, but it does not seem to be a proper connection. We are still in the process of meeting the requirements to enable proper connections to Fidelity investments through Plaid. We have not been working on a connection through Akoya, but did discuss the idea with them. I'm not ruling that out, but so far we think we are still closer to being able to switch on the Moneydance->Plaid->Fidelity connection that we would be if we implemented a separate connection protocol to Akoya.
Thanks,
Sean

Fidelity switched CSV format for me (date). Here is updated version.

Thanks, your updated extension worked perfectly. I see how the date format changed in the latest CSV format, in addition to some fields that are not quoted anymore, and some newly quoted fields. Anyway, thanks again for the quick update.
496 Posted by pctomac on 02 Jul, 2026 12:52 PM
@Sean, can you review and sign mmd's extension and add it to the available Extensions in the Moneydance program? Thanks.
497 Posted by dtd on 03 Jul, 2026 09:37 AM
I'm working with @mmd on a documentation and proposal package to get the extension blessed - it's already good enough.
498 Posted by dtd on 03 Jul, 2026 10:11 AM
Here are the in-progress instructions - subject to change so more detail or thoughts welcome.
499 Posted by pctomac on 03 Jul, 2026 12:26 PM
Thanks dtd and mmd!
500 Posted by flyingout on 03 Jul, 2026 11:34 PM
Yes, thanks @mmd and @dtd. I'm sticking with your extension until at least the Plaid link gets blessed. Maybe longer. I'm appreciating getting transactions quickly.
Shot it the dark. Is there any chance the two import methods could be synced? I don't have any idea how the deduplication happens or how the transaction ids are generated and stored.
501 Posted by dwg on 04 Jul, 2026 12:47 AM
The transactions IDs are generated downstream from where the transactions are originally held, in some cases a considerable way, there is no possibility of them being the same when there are two different systems being used. In any case you do not see transaction IDs in CSV data, such transaction downloads are usually generated from the original source.
502 Posted by dtd on 04 Jul, 2026 12:53 AM
The best solution if you change download methods is to delete the older entries (even if cleared) and keep the newer duplicates. If you move back and forth (as I have done), it gets a bit more complicated.
503 Posted by dwg on 04 Jul, 2026 01:02 AM
I would expand on what @dtd said a little.
The transaction download via Moneydance+ will have transactions IDs. I would suggest keeping this data and deleting any manually download and posted via the CSV load extension as these will not have an ID. This should have the effect that transaction will not be downloaded via Moneydance+ more than once assuming Plaid does not change the ID.
504 Posted by flyingout on 04 Jul, 2026 01:15 AM
That's what I thought. Thanks @dwg. I thought maybe if an id was being generated on the fly (not one provided in the CSV) maybe it could be done that way in both interfaces.
Thanks again
p.s. after the additional posts. Gotcha

Apologies if this has been mentioned. I tried search while logged out and didn't see a result. I was pleased to see Fidelity working with MD+ and have been getting all of my accounts up to date. I've noticed two problems specifically with my Netbenefits 401k:
Transactions come in as "MiscInc" with the correct total, 1000 as the price, and no shares. When I manually change to BuyXfr, 2/4 of the securities automatically have the correct share amount. The other two have blank shares and 1000 for the price. As soon as I manually enter the correct share price, of course the total changes and has to be re-entered for the share price to be calculated. If staff wants to spin this off into a private support ticket I can provide the raw details in case that helps troubleshooting with Plaid.
The other issue is something in the data causes it to ask me to match "US-Dadi Fertilizer Industry International Inc," which is not one of the securities I hold in that account. I select "None of the above," and there's no transaction with that security. Pressing Download again gives me the same message, and it comes back every time I press download.
506 Posted by dtd on 06 Jul, 2026 08:05 PM
The first item you point to happens to me every month for 2-3 accounts, I change the miscinc to a div, then give it a category (i sometimes have to change sign), then adjust the 1000 to a 1 and similarly adjust the price. This happens most for money market accounts. This description doesn't match yours, but I've become so used to fixing it, it blurs as to what actually happens, i just do it.
Basically this is what fidelity passes to plaid which passes to moneydance. I'm sure MD could alter it, but MD doesn't like to change the data given to it. This happens to other banks like schwab for me as well - Id like it changed, but ive resigned myself to fixing it every month (yes, ive brought this up a few times as a tester, but there are 'more important' things being worked on, so this takes a back seat. I almost fix them with muscle memory now.
as for the ghost security, sometimes remnants are sent by banks as well, and there are no transactions for it, so it just ends up doing nothing. given the repetition, you could assign it to an old security with 0 balance instead of none of the above, that MIGHT stop the repetition, but yes that is sort of sloppy.
you are welcome to pass this on to staff, but they are aware of both issues and have both 'on the list', but pretty far down. That said - none of the above' issues have been worked on and might(or might not) encompass your second issue.
I know that doesn't help, but it's the current status.
507 Posted by dtd on 06 Jul, 2026 08:07 PM
The miscinc with 1000 also terribly messes up net worth, and this also involves getting 1000 placed into security price history which has to be removed.
508 Posted by Ted on 06 Jul, 2026 10:43 PM
Thanks for the insight @dtd. What's odd is that as far as I can tell, the number of shares and total are in the raw data sent through Plaid, so it's more a matter of how MD is processing the data than what data Plaid chooses to send. I get that it's a lower priority than actually adding Fidelity which I greatly appreciate, but it seems like essentially the same data as the old OFX import is being handled in a different manner. Example, here are 2 separate lines included in a txn that gave me trouble:
Given this data, it should have shown 4.016 shares @ roughly $257.67/share for a total of $1034.81. Instead I got a misc expense of 1034.81, share price of 1000, and no number of shares. It seems like this is neither the fault of what Fidelity passes to Plaid or what Plaid passes to MD. It's MD mis-interpreting unambiguous data.509 Posted by dtd on 06 Jul, 2026 11:17 PM
I haven't analyzed what's coming down, but if md is misinterpreting it (and they could be), someone has to take the time to analyze it and propose a consistent reinterpretation, which as far as I know hasn't been prioritized. I haven't looked either, but can observe it mostly seems like cash type accounts (money markets, etc), with dividends labelled as miscinc instead of div [or something similar], then a buy with a price of 10, 100, or 1000 instead of 1.
It's also definitely not limited to Fidelity, it's endemic to many banks (which might make it easier to find a commonality). I can say that it is known, but not embraced at the moment, or I would be taking more time with it myself. It's repeatably fixable - but that's exactly the kind of thing a computer should do for you.
510 Posted by dtd on 06 Jul, 2026 11:23 PM
I will admit though, my desire to spend hours each day working on making md better (extension help, code testing, forum question answering etc.) is diminished when I see so many comments that Moneydance shouldn't depend on volunteer help as much.
Affirmation is the only pay we receive, and lately it seems what we do is perceived negatively or somewhat obliquely (i.e. their help is appreciated, BUT...).
