Moneydance file types

Does Moneydance require the *.MD filetype for any specific requirements? I have this file type default to Moneydance but it conflicts with Markdown *.MD files that appear in many Github repositories.

    The ,MD file type relates to very old versions of Moneydance, Moneydance 2011 and earlier, for most users it will not be relevant and they can remove the Moneydance association.
