Report and import
Hi. I like to move away from Quicken, however: 1. Split transactions do not land well in MoneyDance. 2. I have not been able to create a report with my accounts in columns and the categories in rows. Can you help? Thanks. Joseph

Hi Joseph,
Can you provide some more details of how the split transactions are incorrectly showing in Moneydance? Are these transactions that you have imported from Quicken?
When importing your data, if the QIF file format is available to you when exporting from Quicken, you should follow these steps. In particular make sure you specify to Import into a new account rather than an existing account. And you set the source to "From another program".
It is highly recommended to export all Quicken data into a single QIF file, as doing so makes the import process much smoother. Please use the option in Quicken to export "all accounts" if available. The one exception to this is if you have accounts in more than one currency - if thats the case, then you can follow these steps to import multiple QIF files.
I would suggest running the Income and Expense report. You can access this report by navigating to Tools --> Graphs and reports, then selecting the report from the list on the left of the window. Alternatively, you can select the report from the left side bar and select the 'Edit' button at the top right of the register.
Within the report settings that appear, you can select 'Show by Individual' near the bottom right of the window to see a list of your categories. You can choose which categories to include, and amend the other report settings - date, grouping etc before selecting 'generate' to see the report.
If this report does not suit your needs, can you provide some more details of the information you wish to generate and I will provide a suitable report.
