how to export categories to Excel
I am just setting things up and would like to send the existing categories to an Excel spreadsheet vs. having to print ... can I do this?

Hi Tom,
Yes this can be done. It is admittedly a little convoluted.
From the Moneydance menu bar, go to Tools > Budget Manager.
In the resulting window, click the 'New' button.
In the next window, name the budget 'Categories' or whatever is informative to you.
Click open the 'Period' drop-down list and choose. Mixed intervals (old style)
Click 'Create'.
The new budget item will appear on the left sidebar.
For the purposes of these instructions, you can disregard it.
From the left sidebar, click on the 'Budget' Report item, (not the budget that you just created) it's listed under the heading 'Graphs and Reports'.
In the Budget Report window, click the 'Edit' button in the upper margin on the right-hand side.
In the resulting window, click the 'Reset' button at the bottom of the window.
Select the 'Categories' budget that you just created from the 'Budget' drop-down list.
Leave the option set to 'Don't Subtotal'.
Checkmark the option to 'Include categories not defined in the budget'.
Checkmark the option to 'Include item with zero actual and budgeted amounts'.
Leave 'Subtotal categories in report' un-checked.
Click OK.
You can then either click the 'Copy to clipboard' button and Paste the data into Excel.
OR...
Click the 'Save' button and either save the file as an HTML or CSV file. Either one can be opened in Excel. When naming the file be sure to retain it's file extension. e.g. .html or .csv.
HTH -Kevin N.
