delay opening Moneydance

I am on the trial version of the most recent version of Moneydance.
iMac 27 / 2.66 i5 / 8GB RAM OS X 10.6.8

I am experiencing a 6-8 second delay when opening the app.
When I register will the delay go away?

   While not, perhaps, as high end as Dave’s I also run a lot of Ram and have a high end graphic’s card in my Mac Pro and still have the slow loading issue after going to MD 1011 from 1010.
   And thanks for the excellent description of Java execution.

   I have the same problem that phillipbj noted in OS 10.6.8. There is a sizeable delay upon opening. Furthermore, if I have been reconciling and wish to open a new window to add a transaction, the old window will sit there for 10-20 seconds and NOTHING I do with the mouse makes a difference until Moneydance is good and ready to move. I'm on a Macbook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.53 GHz with 4 Gb RAM). Have never had this kind of a delay before with any commercial program, and I can run Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 (fairly memory intensive programs) without any problem. What is the issue with the delays on Moneydance? They are infuriating.
