Shrink Dataset -- repeat on other sync copies?

Stuart:

What does this NOTE mean in the shrink dataset size instructions?

"NOTE: You will need to repeat this process on other Sync copies too..."

I have Dropbox Connection sync setup for the mobile app. Will I have to do something to "repeat this process" on the copy in dropbox? I did see the comment that "tiksync/out" was skipped due to having sync enabled, so it seems the shrink feature is very much sync-aware.

Thanks!

Nope. Not for mobile sync replicas. Only needed to (optionally) repeat on other desktop sync replicas.

The shrink feature is not sync aware.

It only operates on the local copy of the data not on the sync copy. To shrink the sync copy requires more Toolbox steps.

Said differently… the shrink feature is sync aware, and ensures it doesn’t touch or damage sync data that is destined for other sync datasets. As DWG says you can / need to shrink all other desktop sync copies

Simply and probably better put from my perspective Toolbox is not touching the folders used for the syncing data only the folders for the local data.

A slight definition issue, to me "Sync aware" would mean it can shrink the syncing data.

Thanks for the answer. Much appreciated. (and note, if this was already in the discussions forum, I did try searching first but the search feature was offline yesterday).
