point of it.

I know banks handle the timing of transactions differently,
depending on the bank. It's not always by time of purchase and some
vendors batch process credit/debit card purchases so the time of
the batch may be what gets associated with the transaction instead
of the actual time of purchase.

I'm thinking you may have to delete and re-enter transactions if
you're trying to create an exact timeline of your financial
transactions.

Hans N.tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392009-07-03T13:38:54Z2009-07-03T13:38:54ZReordering transactions

Hans is correct. You cannot reorder the transaction in the way
you describe. You would need to delete the earlier transaction and
then re enter it.

I am sorry if this is inconvenient.

I like to be able to reorder such transactions so I have a sense of when and how I spent money throughout a day. Just personal preference I guess.

Thanks for the help!

mlisaliutag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392009-07-03T15:17:04Z2009-07-03T15:17:04ZReordering transactions

I am afraid that even with cash transactions Moneydacne does not
give you the option to reorder.

I have created a suggestion ticket in our issue tracking system
based on your request. Here is the link:

http://moneydance.com/trac/ticket/1957

If you register and log into trac you can vote on thei ticket.
The more votes a ticket gets the more likely it will be
implemented.

Perhaps the best way to handle this would be to allow the time
of the transaction to be entered as well os the date.

Ben Spencertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392009-07-03T15:37:24Z2009-07-03T15:37:29ZReordering transactions

Have you considered using "check number"? If it is cash
transactions, you could just invent a new series of fake check
numbers and order by that.

Randytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392009-07-03T15:44:10Z2009-07-03T15:44:10ZReordering transactions

That's an interesting idea Randy. Given that it is for cash that
would work.

Ben

Ben Spencertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392009-07-05T00:09:22Z2009-07-05T00:09:24ZReordering transactions

I just purchased Moneydance today, and already I'm frustrated at
not being able to reorder transactions.

I would prefer NOT to have to enter the time of every cash
transaction.

And while it's a clever workaround, I would prefer not to have
to make up fake check numbers (too much work, and too easy to get
confused with real check number).

This should be handled by the software, not by making more work
for the user. Why not just allow the user to click-and-drag the
entry up or down in the register? If the user drags the entry out
of the date range, the software should just ask, "Do you want to
change the date of this transaction?" Simple.

Sparkytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392009-07-06T18:03:31Z2009-07-06T18:03:31ZReordering transactions

Hi Sparky

I am sorry that you are experiencing frustration with the
software. I understand that you have a desire for the software to
meet your expectations for intuitive usability and I regret that
the current software does not have the feature that you would
like.

We receive many suggestions from users about how they would like
the software enhanced and changed and unfortunately we cannot
implement all the suggestions that users make. I have created a
suggestion ticket that I hope more accurately meets your need. Here
is the link:

http://moneydance.com/trac/ticket/1962

Please log in and vote on this ticket.

an opportunity for improvement.

I have gone to the ticket that you suggested and voted for it.
Thanks for your help!

Sparkytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392010-02-28T00:46:39Z2010-03-03T17:34:52ZReordering transactions

Referring to mll, it is not just personal preference.
Currently a negative balance appeared on one of my Bank account for
a day because of this behavior.
Let's say these all happens in the same day:
1. I have $100 on my account
2. I receive some money via transfer, say $200
3. I withdraw cash, $150

If listed in the wrong order, I'll get a -$50 balance after the
withdrawal.

A simple time parameter would solve this problem as stated in
the ticket.

karatedogtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/2261392010-03-03T20:44:58Z2010-03-03T20:44:58ZReordering transactions

I encourage you to vote on this ticket. It is a feature we are
considering for inclusion in future versions of Moneydance.
