Inserting a new transaction line

I can't get a new transaction line to add a new item.

   i have tried the CTRL N and the new transaction button in the upper right corner.

   Can you confirm that the new transaction does not appear at the very bottom of the register?

   I apologize I was working on a small screen and thought I was at the
   bottom. I wasn't. It does appear. Thanks
