MD 2023.5 and Mac OS Sequoia 15.7
As a long time user of MD, I believe I purchased v. 2023.1 back in 2023, but I ran into a problem this morning with my Mac Mini. It upgraded from Mac OS 13 Ventura to Mac OS 15 Sequoia on its own as I tried to start it not knowing there was an internet outage !! So my question is, do I have to upgrade to MD 2024, or can I upgrade to 2024.4 on the 2 Macs that can run it on Sequoia and keep MD 2023.5 on the 2 older Macs running Mojave as I don't think 2024.4 will run on them ? The reason I haven't in the past as I had one old laptop still running Mojave OS 10.14.6...as there is some old proprietary software on it I use occasionally. I have 4 machines to deal with...The Mac Mini that updated itself this morning during a network outage, a 16" M1 MacBook Pro running Mac OS 13 Ventura which I can update to Sequoia, a 15" an older Macbook Pro from like 2017 and if you can believe it, I even still have an old Mac Pro Tower also running Mojave...Please let me know if I can run 2 machines with MD 2024.4 and 2 older machines with MD 2023.5 ? OR do I have to stop using those older Macs, or just can't use MD on them anymore...I appreciate your help more than you know,,,

the best thing to do is install 2024.4 on each machine - name it Moneydance 2024 so it won't overwrite, load a recent backup of the data and try it.
I had moneydance 2024 running on my 2015 macbook running Monterey - the problem tends to be older versions of md running on new os versions, but i'll admit i don't know where newer versions of md deprecate older mac os versions.
if 2023.5 runs on all 4, I'd think 2024.4 will as well - or i think you could keep 2023.5 on all 4 as well. but you do pay only one upgrade fee (if any fee, if you bought 2023, then one upgrade should be free)
Having the same version on all 4 is important if you do synchronization.

Thank you for that...I don't mind paying for 2024.4, but will that version run on the Mojave Mac OS on my 2 older machines ?...right now 2023.3 seems to be running OK on each...occasionally long synching to iCloud, but sometimes very quick...if 2024.4 runs on all 4 I'll update ...
One hopefully last questions...Where do I find a recent back up on my Macs, or do I create a
back up on the desktop ?
Many thanks !

You can use Help/show backup folder. to find your backups. you can also make one on your desktop if you wish.
given you sync, you will want to be on the same version for all 4 machines.
you can download 2024.4 for free and try it out before upgrading, given you don't know keep both versions (i rename -like moneydance 2024) Also, you might find your license code works on 2024 as well, if so, no upgrade fee.
