This tool asks for reminders about every transaction you make. How do make entries for transactions like groceries, online shopping from amazon, purchases of movies from prime video, etc., that are made randomly?

   I'm new to MoneyDance, coming over from Banktivity. That said, I've converted everything to a trial of MoneyDance 2024.4 and have tried (and like) Foresight Forecast.

   I'm not sure what you mean by "This tool asks for reminders about every transaction you make"... in my case, I need to monitor my money daily, so I setup reminders for the predictable transactions - rent, weekly groceries, electricity, garbage, water, etc. I did this in the "Reminders" on left side, in Dashboard. And yes, it was a bit tedious, but I used the imported transactions and made a reminder from a transaction, which made it much less painful.
   Having done reminders this way, I do not see the program asking or popping up a request to remind about a transaction -- perhaps I'm missing something here.

   I was not sure how to "predict" say, weekly groceries (as an example of something that changes every time), so, for example, I put in $100 for the reminder amount, and when I record it for this week, I enter the actual amount. That seems to solve 2 things: (1) how much I actually spent up to today, and (2) the forecast has a base to build upon so I get a sense of anything amiss in the next several weeks. Of course, that "$100" is a pure guess on my part, and I adjust over time as needed, and then watch the forecast.

   Apologies if I've missed your problem entirely, but I hope the above helps in some way.

   Thanks for the reply. I was not looking for as finely grained forecast
   as you. I was just looking for a quarterly prediction to determine if I
   need to move cash to cover estimated taxes. But I did something similar
   by creating some "bogus" monthly reminders by getting the average over
   the past 24 months (using advanced search on categories) for the
   "everyday" expenses (gas, groceries, online purchases, etc). After I
   completed all the analysis I needed, I deleted these reminders.
