Online banking "new connection" problem, error message

I want to switch from Quicken Online (which for 3 months has been unable to download transactions from my bank and they won't fix the problem) to Moneydance (which I've heard great things about).

So here are my questions and problems:

  1. When trying to setup online banking, and selecting a bank from the dropdown list (setting up a new connection), it tells me that I have a Java problem that prevents hookup. I get this error message: "Error: java.net.UnknownHostEncrcyption:www.ncrofx.com." I get it on each of the two computers I use. The prevents me from using the trial version so that I can upgrade. Any suggestions?

  2. Can Moneydance software be loaded onto more than one computer or will it only work on one. I'd like to access this info from two locations.

  3. Is there any way to get info from Quicken Online. I see that it's an online program, and I couldn't locate any way of exporting information. The answer to this is probably no.

Thank you for your input.

    Hannah,

    1. What Bank do you bank with? What version of Moneydance did you install? It may be that you need to install our latest preview version (642) which you can find here:

http://moneydance.com/preview/ Please let me know if this does not resolve your error message.

    2. You can load Moneydance on as many computers as you like (for your own personal use). You simply need to move your Moneydance data file (the .MD file) from one computer to the next whenever you update so that you will always have the most recent information on both machines.

    3. If Quicken online allows you to export your data as a QIF file, then you can import that into Moneydance. Here is the relevant FAQ discussing Quicken conversions. It should apply even to Quicken online assuming you can export a QIF file.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Brian --

I did download the latest version that you had recommended. I bank with Old National, which is on the list for New Connections.

I get the same error message at my work computer and my home computer, so I figure the problem is not the computer, unless the problem is java, and both computers have java and update regularly.

I want to use Moneydance, but only if it is intuitive and doesn't pose problems like this. I operate under the idea that computers or life shouldn't be so hard. :-)

    Please help!

    Hannah

    Hannah,

I forgot to give you the link for switching from Quicken:

I believe that our connection info for your bank needs to be updated/checked. We will do it today, and I will let you know once it is resolved.

PS. I completely agree with you re: life and computers! ;)

    Brian --

Thanks for your help, but I still can't get MoneyDance to work. While I can now select Old National bank without getting a a javascript error, I still get an error.

When I enter my online banking username and password, I can an error simply known as "2000." So I cannot log on from home or work.

Please let me know how this can be fixed.

    Hannah,

I apologize for the extraordinary delay in this reply. You are receiving this error in all likelihood because you have not yet enabled your account with Old National for direct access connections. This can be accomplished by contacting your bank representative and asking them to enable your account for Direct Connect. They may also simply call it enabling your account for use with Quicken as Quicken is the software that is most well known that uses this protocol. If your account is enabled for use with Quicken, and you have the proper login information, you will be able to connect to your bank.

    Sincerely,
