Transaction Filter Reporting Doesn't Search Memo Info in Splits

My goal is to create a report that lists all transactions with the word "cottage" in the Memo field. When I set up a Transaction Filter Report, I check Memo and enter the word cottage. When I run the report, all transactions with the word "cottage" in the Memo field that DON'T INCLUDE SPLITS are included in the report. However, transactions WITH SPLITS with the word cottage in one of the split's memo fields do not appear. Why is this? If I also enter the word "cottage" in the main Memo field (i.e., the Memo field of the transaction showing in the register before double clicking on Split), the report will include the correct info from the split, but this requires double entry.

I have tried to use a tag and memo from within a split in the transaction report and it will not show up unless I toggle union and then I get all the splits included.

I do not believe this was the intention and will put in a bug ticket and make this known to the developers.

Thanks for the follow up. I’m using a Category and a Memo so a slightly different scenario in that I use the Combine Criteria “And” but maybe the same root issue. Here’s a screenshot of the setup.

I tried every combo I could. Toggling Union gets all of the split not just the lines with memo. The transaction filter is unable to differentiate either a memo or tag field within the split.

I am unsure how easy a fix for this would be. The ticket is attached to this thread and you should be notified when a fix occurs.
