When I buy Moneydance is it a one time purchase where the program I buy can be used, including downloading stock portfolio prices daily, or will there be an occasional (once every year or two) fee to keep using it?

I am not support staff, just a user.

There are two free methods within Moneydance for obtaining security prices automatically.
The extension “Quote and Exchange Rate Updater found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS. For exchange rates use the source European Central Bank. If your securities are in the US try IEX Trading first, if that does not support a security try Alpha Vantage. Alpha Vantage also cover some securities outside the US, but is very, very slow.
If the Quote and Exchange Rate Updater does not work well for you try the free third-party Quote Loader.
    See post 114 at
It has far wider coverage and is fast.
Download the PDF attached to that post and have a read. To get an overview take a look at the YouTube video by using the link in the PDF.

As for Moneydance itself try thing out for yourself.
    Download from
Downloaded version of Moneydance is a full working version with the only limit being a maximum of 100 manually entered transactions, with no time limit. Imported files from other financial programs and your bank have no limit on imports. If you decided to purchase you are sent a key by email that unlocks the 100-manual transaction limit. If after testing with this free trial version you purchase and change your mind see the 90 day money back guaranty at
For the future Moneydance never sunsets the version it releases. So, you don’t have to upgrade. If you won’t to upgrade the next version is free (say 2017 to 2019) and from then on you get a 50% discount. All upgrades within a version are free.

    Hope this helps.
