I have had no response to this issue, and it
remains with Chase Mastercard.

I speculated above that we may actually be getting transactions
before the bank has issued their final approval. If that turns out
to be true, it is unlikely that they would correct preapproval
errors in the same manner they correct post approval errors.
Instead of issuing a separate credit or debit transaction to
correct the error, they might just change the amount. I don't think
Moneydance would download the changed amount, since the transaction
had already been downloaded once before.

Often if I do a download the next day the ledger balance
changes, EVEN IF THERE ARE NO NEW TRANSACTIONS.

I am running build 735 on Windows 7.

Randytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/7490242010-01-07T19:47:57Z2010-01-07T19:47:57ZChase Credit Card - Changes in downloaded transactions and ledger balance

Hi Randy,

The "ledger balance" shown in the balance popup is provided by
the most recent OFX download/import. That should match whatever the
balance is on your most recent download.

Sometimes banks adjust previous transactions by sending a
"correction" transaction. It sounds like Chase may have started
sending those types of transactions in their OFX downloads.
Unfortunately, there's no way for Moneydance to filter those out.
There may be a setting on the Chase website somewhere where you can
turn those off. You would have to contact them to find out.

I hope that helps clarify what's going on. Please let me know if
I can be of further assistance.

corrections. The only transactions I have seen during the past few
weeks are for the full amounts of a purchase.

They are not sending duplicate transactions, I don't get the
same transaction twice.

All I get is the incorrect ledger balance.

Is it possible that they are now sending 2 ledger balances (a
"previous" ledger balance and a "current" ledger balance), and MD
is picking up the "previous" one?

That would match the symptoms I am seeing
exactly.................

Randytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/7490242010-01-09T19:19:09Z2010-01-09T19:19:09ZChase Credit Card - Changes in downloaded transactions and ledger balance

Hi Randy,

I'm not sure exactly how Moneydance gets the ledger balance, but
what you suggest does sound possible. I'll check in with Sean (our
lead developer) about this on Monday at let you know what he has to
say. I very well could be that Chase is sending the balance in some
non-standard way that we'll have to figure out how to work
around.

couldn't see but one ledger balance.

Maybe it has something to do with the date sent with the ledger
balance, or the way Moneydance is processing it. In all cases, it
seems to be off by 1 day.

If needed, I can send some OFX info, I will need a private
email, and will have to do some redacting.

Randytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/7490242010-03-01T18:31:06Z2010-03-01T18:31:06ZChase Credit Card - Changes in downloaded transactions and ledger balance

I apologize for the long delay in our response, I am embarrassed
to say that we have been snowed under with questions about
Moneydance 2010. Are you still having this issue, and if so, would
you please include the version of Moneydance you are using, your
OS, and the version of Java you are using?

Please let me know how I can be of further assistance,

It continues to happen. They are all legitimate transactions, so
it isn't corrections.

I also wondered if it has anything to do with the "as of" date
that the bank sends with the ledger balance. It behaves as if it is
one day off.

Chase continues to be the only card I have this problem
with.

Randytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/7490242010-03-02T16:03:57Z2010-03-02T16:03:57ZChase Credit Card - Changes in downloaded transactions and ledger balance

Hi Randy,

I've just finished talking to Sean about this. I think you're
right in that the "as of" date is a clue. Our best guess is that
Chase is sending you the balance as of, say, midnight on that date,
along with any transactions from that date (which aren't included
in the balance). If that's true, and the transactions aren't in
suspense, than Moneydance is downloading the information
correctly.

However, there's still the possibility of the transactions being
in suspense. Sean is sure if transactions are at all flagged in
that way. We just take what ever the bank gives us, which
theoretically only includes transactions that have been fully ok'd
by the bank. Could you possibly send me an OFX log (possibly
downloaded from Chase) with transactions on it? That way I or Sean
can look to see if the transactions are flagged in any special way.
It'd be especially great if the file had transactions form multiple
days, if that's at all possible.
