First of all I am not form Moneydance Support, I'm another MD customer.

If I understand you correctly, I will offer the following:

To Transfer money from one account to another, you would open the account that you want to transfer funds from, click on "New Transaction", and then in the Category Field of the open transaction, you would select the Account that you want to transfer funds to. That will take the money from the first account and place it into the second. You will be able to see both sides of the transaction as MD is based on double-entry bookkeeping.

Thankyou for the reply... what I’m trying to do involves historical transactions... I’ve imported my old statements into the program and am now trying to sort all the transactions into categories so it doesn’t come up as ‘automative’. It doesn’t seem to recognise that it is the same money leaving one account and arriving in the other....

Nick Sayerstag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/471458282019-04-04T15:24:45Z2019-04-04T15:24:45ZTransfers

Ah, okay, now I understand. Unfortunately, I'm not the best person for a follow-up to imported data questions. There are several other very proficient users, in addition to IK Staff, that will better prepared to help you along.

Good Luck!

TonyRI
