Trying Money Dance

Am I supposed to be able to try Money Dance without first buying it?

I thought I was told that I could manually download up to 100 files. I downloaded both file.QFX and file.OFX from my checking acct.
When I tried to import them, I got an error:

"There was an error importing the file 'Pers_Trans_2019_to_ 29Apr.ofx': java.lang.NullPointerException"

Sure enough, the names of the files I tried to import show in Money Dance, but no data shows when I try to open them.

So is the problem that my Credit Union is not really exporting the kind of file.ofx or file.qfx Money Dance can read? If so, does that mean that Money Dance is useless to me or that it could retrieve the data directly from my Credit Union online, but I would need a paid for version?

Or is it just not true that Money Dance can be tried for free?

I am not support staff, just a user.

You get 100 manually entered transactions free, with not limit on imported files no matter how many transactions they contain..
Some banks break the rule on how ofx or qfx files should be structured and Moneydance get updated to cover these as they are brought to the attention of the developer. He need to see samples to work out what the bank is doing wrong and try to compensate.
Try downloading the latest build from https://infinitekind.com/preview and see if that works. It want affect your 100 limit.
Before importing the file are you setting up the account under ACCOUNT - NEW ACCOUNT?

    Hope this helps
