I seem to have duplicated my main account. How can I re-name one of them or better still, how can I delete one?

I am not support staff, just a user.

To delete an account highlight it in the side bar, list on right and click ACCOUNT – DELETE ACCOUNT.
If the account you want to delete has transactions that are transfers to other accounts then the transactions will also be deleted from the other account.

If you want to move any transaction from the account you want to delete to another account highlight these transactions, then right click BATCH CHANGE – ACCOUNT and select the account you want to move the transaction to.

Its good practice to do an EXPORT BACKUP before using Batch Change in case you make an error.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Support,

I think I used the wrong terminology. It is my main Data File that I have inadvertently duplicated and it is a data file that I wish to delete or rename.

Any help you can give will be appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Graham Lockley

Thanks for your suggestion. I think I have mis-led you with the word ‘Account’. It is actually a Data File that I wish to delete or rename.

Assuming you are running a later version of Moneydance then:

Click on HELP – SHOW DOCUMENT FOLDER to open a file explorer at the default location for data sets. Close Moneydance. A data set is a folder containing other folders and files with the naming convention yourdatasetname.moneydance. You can delete or rename your data sets folder in the normal way.
If you delete or rename the data set that was last open Moneydance will open in the Welcome to Moneydance window with your data sets listed on the right. Double click to open.

    Hope this helps.
