Will Moneydance 2019 work on macOS Catalina when it comes out next month?

    Hi Jason,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

Although we can confirm that Moneydance will run just fine on Catalina, we wouldn't recommend anyone other than developers to upgrade to the beta version of Catalina.

If you are considering such switch for when the official version of Catalina will be out, then you can be confident that Moneydance would not be an issue.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

    Maddy,

I believe MacOS Catalina is now out with an official version (10.15). Can you confirm that Moneydance will work with this version of MacOS?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi Bill,
Thank you for getting back in touch.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, you should be fine running Moneydance on Catalina.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to download our free trial version and experiment with the program. You can download the trial version of Moneydance from our website on this page.

The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.

You can find the Moneydance knowledge base here which will be useful if you're using the program for the first time. I'd be happy to provide guidance if you have any questions or need assistance getting setup.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

I have just upgraded my iMac to Catalina, and Moneydance does not work. A message asked me to download Java 6 but this cannot be installed onto my hard drive. So...at the moment I am unable to use my Moneydance, which is a great disappointment-8years of accounts unavailable.
    Any suggestions?

I am not support staff, just a user.

The first question support will probably ask is what version/build of Moneydance are you running? I think it should be at least 2019.3(1880).

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I have emailed the support staff, too. Not sure which version I'm using as I can't open it to find out.
    Hey ho!

    Hi Diane,
We recommend running Moneydance 2019.3 (1880) available for download at this page.

Please note, if you purchased via the Mac App store, you can simply log into your account using your Apple ID and your update should be available, for you there.

Newer versions of Moneydance are bundled with Java, so you won't need to install this separately on your computer.

Finally, you should launch Moneydance by double clicking on your .moneydance file from Finder.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

HI, We have the same problem as above (7) and have clicked the link provided to download Moneydance 2019.3 (1880) as suggested.
This has worked except that it requires us to pay £49.99 for the new software.
Can you reiterate how we would access via Apple ID as we (probably) purchased via App Store in the first instance.

    Yours, Ann

It's a while since I did this, but I found my customer reference number from the original purchase, and this enabled me to get a 50% discount, so I paid £25.

    Hi Ann,

    • If you've purchased your current license of Moneydance via the Mac App store, you can simply log into your Mac store account using your Apple ID and your update should be available, for download there. (please note these versions of Moneydance have an embedded license - not provided separately);

    • When you purchase Moneydance directly from our website, to upgrade to Moneydance 2019, you can enter your current license key into the 'Upgrading?' box on this page to redeem a 50% discount. After purchasing, you'll be sent a new license key via email.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

This comment was split into a new private discussion: macOS Catalina

I have the same problem as Diane (7 above). I downloaded the latest version of Moneydance but my old data doesn't show and won't import. How do I get my older Moneydance data with the 2019 version? I have a MacBookPro 2017 with Catalina (10.15.1)

    Dennis
