Hi phil66 --

Actually very easy, and you have two alternatives:

1) use the install script. Basically, it appears to place all of the
parts in its proper location. I had not done this in a while, so take a
look at the install sript. It should also install OpenJDK as default.
2) if you down load the deb file, it becomes very complicated to break
it into arch linux install. I initially tried it and never got it to work.

If you got as far as installing and using manjaro, this is pretty nice
way to run Moneydance.

Hope this helps.

What distro of LINUX (and version) are you using? It sounds like Redhat
but confusing how you would get an "rpm" of Moneydance, since the
download site only has two options for LINUX: "deb" (Ubuntu) and "script"

What desktop are you using since some desktops do not allow desktop
icons unless you really want them.

Thanks

I have a virtualbox image of manjaro running MD 2019. The only
difference is that I am using KDE desktop rather than GNOME (for a lot
of capabilities reasons!).

The next question is whether you can run MD or are you stuck on the
result of the install (running the program)?

Background. I had a lot of issues installing MD on Manjaro, even to the
point of converting the deb file to work as an ARCH linux install, with
pacman. I finally gave up and downloaded the shell script, which worked
the first time!

Basically, the shell script unpacks the software into a directory of
your own choosing, with a executable file, and, what seems like and
install as a desktop file (icon). I can start MD using the shell script,
but I use something like docker that once running, I add to my bottom
list of commands as an icon. I did not try the install desktop, but that
may be a way for you to go.

I would recommend 2019, if you have the license for it. And have a try
at the install script.
