So done with Quicken, trying out trial and need help
I would really like to download transactions from my daughter's 529 at American Funds. I was able to get to the step where I had to choose which one fund (of the 7 in her 529) to download. I chose the first in the list and it worked. How do I go about getting the transactions for the other 6 funds. I tried all the things I could think of to choose all 7 at once but none worked. I tried to download transactions a second time and the dialog box wouldn't come up. What am I doing wrong?

John,
I apologize for the long delay in our response, I am embarrassed to say that we have been snowed under with questions about Moneydance 2010. Are you still having this issue, and if so, would you please include the version of Moneydance you are using, your OS, the financial institution you are working with, and the version of Java you are using (if different from above)?
Please let me know how I can be of further assistance,

John, you were able to download your transactions for the one fund though? I’m not getting that far. In the setup, MD is communicating properly with American Funds to see all my funds (just so happens to be 7 funds as well). My password is accepted but then I get a server error:
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
Information for this account is currently unavailable. Please call an American Funds Service Representative at 800/421-0180 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, for assistance.[3008]

Hi Rob,
That error message means there's something wrong with how your account is set up on their server. You'll need to call American Funds at the number indicated in the message to have them sort out what's going on.
If you still have trouble connecting after calling your institution, please let me know so that I can help with further troubleshooting.

Hello there,
Let me shed some light (hopefully) with American funds. When you log on through their web site, you use either account number or userid. Through web connect, you must use your ssn. That should get you in - it did for me.
Now the second item is in regards to downloads. AF has it set up that each account and fund combination gets treated separately. That is if you have one account with 10 different funds, AF treats that as 10 different accounts and you need to set up 10 different MD accounts - one for each fund. I have complained to AF several times about this but to no avail. On my soap box, call AF and complain.
Here is the question to MB, referring back to John's problem, AF downloaded the data for one fund/account combination. In his case he would need 7 MD accounts - one for each fund. Can MD help by allowing several different financial account login's for a MD account? Or, in the case of AF, capture all of the fund ids and make multiple requests - one for each fund. If you have any questions, I can try to help in whatever way I can.
I hope this helps someone understand what is happening.

Hi vhradice,
I'm not sure what you're asking for. It seems like creating an account for each fund should work, which makes sense since that is how AF is sending the information. Is there something else you are wanting to see?

I like to keep all things for one account in one MD account. In particular, I have an IRA with AF and there are 10 different AF mutual funds in that account. I also have a Roth IRA there with the same 10 funds. I would like to download all transactions for all 10 funds into that appropriate IRA/ROTH MD account - not 20. When I setup the online access through MD, I had the console window open as I had some problems earlier. I captured the following (account numbers changed for security purposes) data from there:
<<<<<<<<
OnlineService.setAvailableAccounts() {
Adding acctInfo: <<<1,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<1,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<5,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<5,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<7,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<7,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<8,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<8,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<9,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<9,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<16,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<16,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<22,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<22,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<23,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<23,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<33,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<33,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<35,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<35,yyyyyyyy>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<59,xxxxxxxx>>> Adding acctInfo: <<<59,yyyyyyyy>>> } accounts are available!
When I do the download, only one fund/account combo is processed. How can I get MD to download the rest into the appropriate account?

Unfortunately, since AF is sending each account/fund combo as a separate account, you'll need to have separate accounts for each in Moneydance. It's not possible to download multiple accounts into one Moneydance account.

I would just like to cast another vote in favor of the idea that American Funds makes it very painful to work with Moneydance, since each mutual fund in my one 529 account would need to be set up as a separate investment account in Moneydance in order to download properly. (To be clear, it's a single American Funds account, but their download process handles each mutual fund separately.)
I don't want to set up separate accounts because I have years of history from Quicken in which the American Funds mutual fund activity is all contained in a single investment account.
It would be very nice if Moneydance could merge multiple downloads from American Funds back into my single American Funds investment account!
Note that American Funds explains this download process on their website:
https://www.americanfunds.com/help/quicken-2009.htm
"If Quicken does not import all of your accounts by Social Security number or tax identification number, repeat the setup process and enter a sample fund and account number — separated by a comma — for your User ID / username. For example: 01,12345678 (no spaces)."
