I'm a fellow user.
The opening balance is one that Moneydance calculates, it is defined as
Initial Balance of the Account + Cleared Deposits - Cleared Payments
If you were able to change it it would make the reconciliation worthless as it becomes just an arbitrary number.
The process is designed so that you should end up with a zero difference between the Final balance of the statement and all transactions marked as reconciled. The zero difference means you have successfully reconciled the account, with those transactions not marked as reconciled still outstanding.
