Upgrading from 2015.8 to newest version of Moneydance
I have Moneydance version 2015.8 on an older PC laptop. I want to use my upgrade discount to purchase the new Moneydance version and install it on a new PC laptop. What is the best method to upgrade and bring my current data into the new version on the new laptop?
Thank you for the help.

I'm a fellow user.
You say PC so I am assuming Windows.
There are a few approaches you could take. This is probably one of the safest.
On your new machine download and install Moneydance 2015, use the 64 bit version. As I am assuming Windows MD 2015 will run quite happily on the latest Windows 10 release.

Copy you data over using something like a memory key. Run Moneydance and ensure everything is working as it should be.
Then do a upgrade of the new machine to Moneydance 2019 choosing to upgrade the existing installation.
This I regard as the safest approach as you are not touching the old machine and can return to it if anything goes wrong.
After you have the new machine running to your satisfaction you can decide what is going to happen with the old machine, it could be getting scraped so little apart from wiping data off it needs to be done, or if it is going to still be used you could set up Moneydance 2019 on it and sync between the machines. These are the two ends of what could be done with plenty of in between objectives.

It may not be obvious where the data is stored. This page explains the default locations:

Also, there is no need to uninstall the old version before installing the new version. I am surprised the Knowledge Base articles don't seem to mention this basic information. It becomes obvious when you run the setup program, as it gives a choice to either "update the existing installation" or "install into a different directory".
