Is Moneydance a double entry system with actual accounts and account numbers, or is it like quicken?

Thank you

    I'm a fellow user.

Moneydance is based on Double entry, its terminology is geared towards Personal finance rather than bookkeeping. So what are called accounts in Moneydance are Asset and Liability items like Bank Accounts, Credit card accounts, Investments. Categories are basically your Income and Expense accounts. There are transaction registers for each account or category.

I'm not sure what you are driving at with the statement "with actual accounts and account numbers"

You can download the software and try it out in Trial mode to see if it meets your needs.
