I'm not quite sure I understand your question. Is there reason to believe that you wouldn't be safe to use your backups, or are you worried about something specific?

If your question is about how backups work in Moneydance, please see: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/backups-and-exporting/backups

to load each of my other 2 files, one at a time, will I lose my personal
finances data or will it just provide me access to the data of the lost
file? I don't want to overwrite my data. As you can tell, I don't
usually do this type of thing and I'm afraid of overwriting my moneydance
data.

mcrousetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/483076012020-05-07T13:30:43Z2020-05-07T13:30:43Zusing moneydance backup to load data from two separate files.

If you restore the backups using the File -> Restore from Backup option mentioned in that link I sent, the program will create a new data file in the default file location with the restored data. You should be able to switch between recently opened data files by going to File -> Open from the menu bar.

If you're not sure where your current data file is being stored, it is likely in the default file location, described at: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/file-locations-and-changes/de...

Restoring a backup won't affect your current file, it will just create a new data file. It may be worthwhile making sure you know where your current data file is located before doing this process, just in case you get confused about where it is after restoring these files, which will leave you with what sounds like three data files, if I'm understanding your situation correctly.

trust the process!

mcrouse
