Lost Datafile

I access and use my Moneydance file on My Mac most days.

Today I have downloaded some bank account data and updated a few transactions. Then I have logged off and returned later to find the programme is no longer opening to my file but the welcome screen on installation and it is asking me to open a file?

I cannot find my datafile and so I do not know where to direct it.

The only thing that has happened between these activities was Norton Live 360 has run a clean sweep in the interim. Could this have deleted my file?

Where should I find my datafile?

Thanks

    Hello,

It's possible that anti-virus software could have deleted your file, but it would have to be a pretty aggressive program to do that.

If you're not sure where you were saving your data, it is likely in the default file location, described at: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/file-locations-and-changes/de...

If it doesn't appear to be there, try searching your entire system for any files that end with the ".moneydance" file extension. If you find any, use the open other option from the Moneydance welcome screen or the menu bar (File -> Open -> Open Other) to select your yourfilename.moneydance data set.

If none of that helps, were you making any backups of your data file, do you make regular backups of your system or other critical data, do you sync your data file with other systems, or do you take any other methods to backup your data?

Thanks for this information. I have now found the files in my trash
folder. The Norton 360 Live scan had decimated lots of my files including
Moneydance. I have now got rid of Norton.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to recover your data! What an awful situation, I hope you leave feedback for Norton about what their program did.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
