I'm going to start with a question. Did your mother create a separate data set for your data - this would be the ideal solution as you would only have to move that specific data set, a very easy task.

Or are your accounts intermingled with hers in the one data set?

If intermingled it is possible but as I'm sure you can imagine will require some work.

There are couple of approaches you could take.

1, Make a copy of your mother's data set and work to remove her information from that new data set, just leaving your data there. Pre Moneydance 2015 this was a reasonable approach to take. With Moneydance 2015 and later this is not such an attractive approach as the result of "removing" data actually results in the on disk size of the data set to grow larger due to the way data in managed in these versions, and there are good reasons to do what ti does.

The other approach is to treat it like a migration exercise, in some respects similar to moving between software but with differences. You would look to export data from your accounts from your Mother's data set into QIF files and import these into a new data set. It would have to be a separate QIF file for each account.

Hopefully this has given you some ideas.

dwg
