Security updates
Nothing is happening with security updates. When I launch MD, it used to immediately update securities. It doesn't now. I used the Exentsion Qutoes and Exchange Rates Download Now and nothing happens. I used the base extension and it lists the securities, but last update was 2/26. I have it set to Yahoo! Finance. What might I be doing wrong? NOTE: the advanced test only shows Downloading--nothing else (red or green).

We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.
Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Moneydance --> About Moneydance
Can you let us know which version of the Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater you are running?

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.
The Quick Start Video is intended to give a quick overview so the user can see if Quite loader looks like it could work for them. The Short Video expands the user’s knowledge giving more detail. The Full Video goes even further but may be too wordy for some.
The PDF reinforces what’s leaned in the videos, provides step by step instructions, a must read and provide answers on how to handle less obvious issues some users may come across.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post. If any securities return an error then post your base currency, the Ticker, full Security Name and last price you have and its traded currency or just post a screen shot of the Quote Loader windows after you click GET PRICES.

The settings are what I would expect and it appears the extension is running as it should as shown by the date of last update.
I have tried Q & ER here using a test data set and it worked as expected.

Hi monty,
Using the same settings, I was able to get Quotes and Exchange Rates working as expected.
This makes me think there may be something else in your system blocking the price update.
Could you send us your Moneydance error logs?
They are saved on your computer as an errlog.txt file.
You can get to your error logs as follow:
1) navigate to Help->Console Window to show the console log in a window
or
2) in the Finder, press ⌘⇧G and then copy and paste
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Supportinto the field and press enter/return.At that point the finder will show an internal folder containing the errlog.txt file which includes the log.
Finally you can paste the full content to your next reply.
To add an attachment to this thread, please click on the "Browse" button.
Alternatively:
when you are in register view, navigate to Help/Moneydance->Console Window.
At the bottom left of the window you should see a round symbol and a downwards arrow.
Click the arrow and choose: File and Folders->Console log->Show file location.
In the following window you should see a file called error log, you can open the file and copy the content in your next reply or add it as an attachment (whichever is easier)

I'm running Tahoe so the navigation turned out to be a little different. Mine shows ~Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support
This may be what you listed, but it is truncated above and doesn't show the actual path. I've attached the errlog file.

Yahoo responds with 404 Not Found, because these are municipal bond CUSIPs, and Yahoo does not publish muni bond pricing.

Makes sense, but why aren't the other securities updating? I used to see at the bottom of MD all the updates going on. Also, the Quotes and Exchange Rates do NOT ever show an update. IF, and only IF, I select UPDATE NOW, the date changes. but no securities get updated. (NOTE: I have deselected all the bond funds).

You could try changing source.
FT is good for funds only, it does not have share prices. FT has share prices, but no history.
Alpha Vantage has prices but within the limits of what markets it supports and its free download limit of 25 stocks per day.

Back to the original question - why isn’t it updating? No ticker at the bottom of the window whether on launch or UPDATE NOW. Nothing happens.

Why not save yourself a lot of problems and try the extension Quote Loader as I suggested in post 3 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/10099-se... of this discussion.
I added the first three of your securities to Quote Loader and as you can see from the screenshot it returns prices.

Many of the users that contribute here are using Quote Loader and have not used Q & ER for many years, since when it broke the first time after Verizon took over Yahoo, so we have limited knowledge of the extension now, we know the basics of how it should work.
Q & ER is maintained by TiK themselves so I expect Moneydance support to provide most of the help.

Tried Quote Loader. No global esit that I could find, so very tedious to change the SOURCE for multiple securities. Used it and of course I get the standard "Yahoo Throttling Active. Call speed reduced." But eventually I get about 75% (using FT or Yahoo). Alphavatage requires an API so didn't try it.
Still leaves open why the Q & ER wasn't working.

If you right click on the double arrow to the right of the Source heading you will get options to set all to whichever source you desire.
The Yahoo throttling is to make QL more like how a browser would be interacting time wise, and reduce the likelihood of incurring Verizon ire and result in them taking more evasive actions.

Spend some time to save time.
The PDF I directed you to, outlines how to globally set a source. See page 6 INITIAL SET UP……. As described by dwg.
The PDF and videos explains many features that make Quote Loader flexible and comprehensive.
Just take a look and have a read.
