Stock Totals
Is there any simple way to display total holdings in stocks that I hold in several accounts? The portfolio page defaults to sorting by account. In an ideal world, I'd be able to sort this by stocks so that I can easily see the totals I have of each stock. Thanks.

Further to this, I have found that I am able to use the portfolio page and select individual securities holdings across various accounts. This gives me a totals of cost basis, gains and balance. Frustratingly, it doesn't give me the total of securities held across various accounts, I have to get my calculator out and manually add each account's holdings. Could I please ask that you put in a total for the shares held across all accounts on this page. It would seem to me to be an easy tweak. Many thanks.

We have a feature request ticket already in for this. I have attached it to this thread

Hi etj92,
In the meantime, take a look at the 'Extra Investment Reports' extension.
It can aggregate ticker symbols across multiple accounts.

Thanks for that Kevin. However, I don't think that helps me. I've had a look at the extension and I think it only applies when you download reports from a bank or broker. I don't have that facility in UK and am wanting to aggregate the totals from my Moneydance data. Maybe I'm not seeing something in the extension that would allow this.

Hi etj92,
Try this and see if it gives you what you're looking for...
Open the 'Extra Investment Reports' extension.
On the 'Report Options' tab, select 'Ticker' from the 'Aggregate By' drop-down list.
Checkmark the 'Show aggregates for single security' option.
Click 'Run Reports'
(see screenshot)

Hi Kevin,
Thanks once again, but I tried that. I've tried it again and I get "Cannot run reports! See Log in" I don't know what that's about, but assumed it was because I was not logging into a broker's site.

Hi etj92,
That's odd. Perhaps you could email the developer.
There's an email address at the top of the webpage that opens when the 'Help' button is clicked. (the Help button on the extension's 'Report Options' tab)
If you look at the 'Report Options' tab, there is a 'Download Location' section. There should be a path to an output folder listed there.
If you go to that location, there should be an 'investment_reports_error0.xml' file there. I'm not sure if that will shed any light on the matter. The developer may want you to send it to him though.
Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your input. I tried as you suggested, but when I hit that help button it only opens a window in Windows explorer, no webpage or email address. Too difficult, onto other things!

Hi etj92,
Wow, that extension really doesn't want to work for you; does it?
By any chance, are you using MD 2015 and have you upgraded from an older version of Moneydance? e.g. MD 2012 or MD 2014.
If so, any extensions that were installed need to be upgraded as well.

Hi Kevin,
I'm a newbie, having come from Quicken (UK version) 2004. Great program, but it was the last UK version and Intuit stopped support. The program was getting flakey so I came to MD. I'm using MD 2015.7 (1358); all the extensions are the latest. So I'm learning (or not) as I go along!

Hi etj92,
Aside from maybe uninstalling the extension and reinstalling it to see if it may trigger something to get it working, I'm afraid that I'm stumped.
Hopefully someone from Moneydance support will chime in to lend a hand.
I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

I've just upgraded to MD 2017 and hoped the request ticket raised this year might give this feature, but I can see no sign of it. Is the request ticket still valid and when might this (I think) simple upgrade be made?

The ticket is still in the system I can not provide an eta on its implementation.

Thanks Tom. Guess I'll have to keep using my calculator for now then!
