I have duplicated securities and I am unable to remove the one that is not required. I clear down the data, but when I come to remove it from the Securities list its says I cannot do this while the currency is in use. Tried to delete the currency, but it just applied the next one in the list.

Is there a way I can remove a duplicated security?

Regards

    Hi Mike,

Before you can delete a security, you must remove the security from any accounts that hold it. Do so from the 'Securities Detail' view of the account through the use of the 'Remove Security' button.

Please let me know if you encounter any difficulties.

    Ian,
I am having the same problem with duplicate securities. I flagged the duplicates that I want to eliminate with "xxx" at the end, for example (CHEVRON CORPORATIONxxx) and replaced each and every instance of "CHEVRON CORPORATIONxxx" with "CHEVRON CORPORATION". The system still refuses to let me delete "CHEVRON CORPORATIONxxx" from the securities lit. Using this method, I was able to delete several duplicate securities, but I still have 20 remaining duplicates that I can not remove, even after eliminating all transactions. To make matters worse, when I do an online update, after painstakingly removing all instances of the duplicate security, MD proceeds to download the new transactions using the duplicate security name (flagged xxx), so now I have to go back in and manually hand edit each and every transaction back to the correct security. How do I get rid of all these duplicate securities once and for all?
